Growing up and Imaginations

A Response to A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Life passes you by so quickly that you don’t even have time to think. One minute you’re a child seeing things as being fun and games, until you get older and realize that the world is something bigger than fun and games. As you get older your imagination tends to slip away from you. You take things seriously and realize the world has plenty more to offer you.

Life as a child is incredible. You look into every store window and see glittery and shiny new toys. You think to your self, I am perfectly happy not playing with these toys I just like looking at them. You return to that same spot three years later. The toys suddenly seem not shiny and you notice every single imperfection. Your fantasy vision is slipping away;your imagination is gone. That’s how Francie feels when returns to the store window. She is growing up but she doesn’t want to loose that priceless imagination she once had. Nowaday the younger generation wants everything now in perfection. Of course it’s harder to relate, but children have dreams, and imaginations.
We all have dreams, especially children. It may be that we dream to be a super star or that the clouds are made of ice cream, either way we have a dream. Dreams can change over time from impossible dreams that your imagination creates to dreams that make sense and are realistic. Francie when she was younger, wanted to be a movie star, but when she grew up and her imagination slipped away from her, she moved on to something more practical: a play writer.

Besides imanging our futures, we use our imagination in games. Francie and her mother used to play North Pole in tough times when they couldn’t afford food. They would pretend that they were stranded on Antarctica there was and not enough food so they would scavenge their house looking for food. Now though that she older she has a harder time playing North Pole because her imagination has slipped away from her.

Whether big or small, all have an imagination, though when you are older your imagination slips away from you. Your fantasy vision is gone and you start to think of things more practically. Always try to hold on to some of your thoughts your imagination, for it is priceless.

Challenges

Response to A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Life is full of challenges, both tough and easy. You can do anything if you set your mind to it and face your challenges straight on, and don’t back down. Come out strong and use all your strength to concur problems one by one, day by day.

Never back down from a challenge easy or hard. Always have a positive mind set when facing your problems. Even if something isn’t going your way or you’re having a bad day always try your best. Although some challenges you’ll succeed others you won’t. Francie has many challenges in her life. She succeeded at some while others she failed. Though she never gave up. When the man attacked Francie she squirmed and fought but she didn’t survive on her own. Katie got a gun and shot the man, leaving Francie speechless. Although Francie didn’t succeed on her own a little teamwork never hurt anyone.

Francie and Johnny make a good team. Although Francie relies on him way to much. One day when she truly does need him he won’t be there to support her like he used to. When Francie felt as if she needed to switch schools her and Johnny cooked up a plan and it worked, so far. Johnny will do anything for his daughter even if it’s wrong or not legal. He would be a perfect father if he didn’t get drunk all the time. Which is yet another issue Francie has to face.

Life is like a mountain range you have your high points and low. You have many challenges to face and once you succeed you’ll be at your high point. Always have a positive mind set and face your problems straight on like Francie. Don’t waste your life away trying succeed with only half of your effort, go concur your challenges straight on with no hesitation.
